“Sonorasaurus is a genus of brachiosaurid dinosaur from the middle Cretaceous (Albian toCenomanian stages, around 112 to 93 million years ago). It was a herbivorous sauropodwhose fossils have been found in southern Arizona in the United States. Its name, which means “Sonora lizard”, comes from the Sonoran Desert where its fossils were first found. It is estimated to have been about 15 meters long (50 ft) and 8.2 meters tall (27 ft), about one third of the size of Brachiosaurus.

Fossilized remains were discovered by geology student Richard Thompson, in 1995, in theChihuahua Desert region of the Sonoran Desert in southern Arizona. Dating of the find makes this the first known brachiosaur to have lived in the middle Cretaceous Period of North America. The type species is S. thompsoni, described by Ratkevich in 1998.” Wikipedia

A new predatory dinosaur has been discovered in Romania.
It has been named Balaur bondoc meaning “stocky dragon’
and would have lived about 70 million years ago. The dinosaur
was like a large Velociraptor.
However it had two large claws on each foot instead of the one in Velociraptor’s case.
One of these claws was extendable and would have been used for attacking prey.
Balaur was about 2 metres long.The dinosaurs feet and legs were short and stocky and had
large muscle attachment areas suggesting that this dinosaur was built for strength and not
speed. Balaur has been dubbed the ‘kickboxer’ of the dinosaur world

The skull was broad and light, with jaws lined with about a hundred long, fine teeth, ideal for catching fish and squid. The internal nares were set forward, and the nostrils were relatively small. This probably kept its bulky body away from its small head so as not to alarm potential prey.
